Some of you might have been aware that recently, the bored was finding itself incapable of sending out e-mails. This created problems in other areas as well (for example, the bored should e-mail you if someone sends you a personal message), but the place it hit hardest was in new user registration. When you sign up for a new account, the bored sends you a confirmation e-mail you have to respond to, as the last way to ask
"Are you actually a human?"Since those e-mails weren't going out, new users weren't getting registered. And the process to fix it was as complicated as it was boring.
But the point is, it is fixed. If you had a friend who couldn't get an account before, let 'em know it's fixed.
